In the weeks ahead, Barry Alfonso, a founding member of the San Diego Comic-Con committee and a Grammy-nominated music journalist, will be sharing his remembrances of the guest appearance of the famous (and/or infamous, depending upon point of view) Dr. Timothy Leary at the 1976 San Diego convention. Barry says, “I think you will find some of the incidents in this tale pretty interesting.”

Greatest historical event in fandom was the Cortez years 72-78. We collected comics and other items that averaged around 30-20-10 years in age. SDCC Cortez artifacts are 32 to 38 years old. That’s incredible and ironic. Also Kool.
